Research into possible UK independent Distributors

Arrow films is an independent UK distributor that focus upon specific genres such as, horror, classic and cult films via DVD/Blu - ray and many TV series. Furthermore, it was established during the year of 1991. This distributor is recorded to be one of the UK's leading independent distributors for world cinemas, horror and many more films. However, this distributor supports our genre and film as our film portrays conventions of slasher horror likewise to Arrow Films. As the films they distribute are small and independent this reflects they will have a smaller target audience therefore, this is similar to our film. Also, as their target audience is small they'll receive a low budget as many low - key actors are involved and they tend to film on location. On the other hand, for many years Arrow films have been very successful due to the fact that they have managed to work with some outstanding directors such as, Denys Arcand, Tinto Brass and Luis Bunuel. This is beneficial for Arrow Films as it helps them to gain a higher income. Arrow films have also been successful in distributing films as they have won the Academy award during 2009 for the film, Departures.  

Altitude is another UK independent film distributor that was produced in May 2012. The film company was founded and is led by Will Clarke. Altitude have been successful over many years especially with their first release during 2014 with the documentary, '20 feet from Stardom' that managed to gain an Oscar winning therefore, this was beneficial for the company as it helped them to gain more financial support. Likewise to Arrow Films, it will contain a small target audience therefore, the budget will be low as it is an independent film. However, to help gain support and an increase in income, Altitude produced a biopic film called Amy during 2015. This reflected the life about the famous singer Amy Winehouse in addition, this was a huge film produced by the film company therefore, it was released into cinemas within the UK on 3rd July 2015. 

Warp films is another example to focus upon UK independent films produced. This company is a television company as well as an independent film producers. The company are normally based on location, within areas such as, Sheffield, London and the UK. Although, Warp films have managed to reach Australia and produce films within, Melbourne. Warp films was originally founded by Rob Mitchell and Steve Beckett however, the company was established by Warp Records, which is an English independent record label. Warp films have been successful as they have won many awards for example, they won an award for the best short film, 'My wrongs#8245-8249' that was shot during 2002 and filmed by Chris Morris. After the film was produced, it managed to become the first short film DVD single within the UK market. Warp films have been producing many more successful films throughout the years such as, 71' and This is England.
