Location Factors and Preproduction Shooting

For the shooting of our film, we used cameras which were provided to us by Barnsley college. We used tripods to connect the cameras on in order to make the shots look stationary and rested to maintain a professional outcome. The quality, however, looked a little bit degraded in comparison to high end professional cameras and equipment. This may have disadvantaged our work as on YouTube it appeared to look a little bit rough, however this may have advantaged us in a way as our film looked distorted, much like a horror movie should.
Below are images I shot and edited to show the area where filming took place. This is situated in the quiet area of Wortley, by a country side road, surrounded by fields full of cattle. Below are roads where driving scenes took place, alongside other major scenes. However during production we realised the area of Wortley wasn't bright enough, as street lights weren't situated around the area, therefore we moved our set to Ecclesfield Morrison's carpark, as we couldn't find the equipment to suit our lighting needs. This area suited our genre of film, due to it having aspects shown in typical horror movies, for example the composition of low key, underexposed, natural lighting, which creates a sense of the unknown within the shadows, alongside an urban stretch of land, particularly surrounded by living plants much like brushes, and trees which would allow the culprit to hide his or hers identity, creating tension as the movie progresses to action, also creating shadows and unfamiliar shapes. The lighting streamed from one small, weak source, in this case, the moon and car headlights were the only source available. This location was also excluded from publicity, showing a sense of isolation, situated out of range of rescue.
