Treatments

Treatment 1:

  • Title - 'Twisted'
  • The duration of the whole film is around 90 mins long. Whereas, the short film that we have produced will be around two or three minutes to show the beggining of the film and set the scene.
  • Audience: It is mainly targeted towards teenagers furthermore, the certificate of the film is a 15 due to the fact that, it contains voilent scenes and sadistic scenes from the clown. Also,  the following film may contain flashing images and scenes which some viewers may find disturbing or upsetting. We thought to have a certificate of 15 because it could contain scenes that are threatening and scary towards the viewers.
  • Shots: Within our film we shall use a variety of different shots for example, high or low angles to show either us looking up or down upon the specific subject, long shots to reflect the characters from head to toe in relation to the surroundings to further portray a sense of atmosphere. Furthermore, the film will include medium shots, tracking shots, establishing shots, jump cuts as well as some POV shots.
  •  Synopsis: The film is produced to show a small group of teen girls driving to a Halloween party. They were driving down a country road in order to get there quicker and avoid any heavy traffic.
  • Storyline: Within the first minute of the film, a psychopathic clown killer appears at the side of a road holding a baseball bad. The clown is dressed in a terrifying way in order to scare the viewers therefore, he is wearing a plumbers boiler suit with a clown mask to hide their appearance. Furthermore, the clown mask is used to create an effect and cover identity. In addition, as the clown has been spotted by the teenagers it begins to slow down therefore, they begin to feel anxious and frightened. Also, they would be questioning why the clown is there. Later on in the film, the teenagers upon seeing the clown, scramble out of car in shock and begin screaming loudly and going off in different direction therefore, this creates more tension. The film isn set in a forest/woods therefore, when they all run different directions they'll be differtn scences and atmospheres. As they run to the side of the road, they see the clown once again slowly swinging the bat and whistling. The girls are terrified. Eventually the clown comes after them one by one. The rest/ending of the film will document the group together (and possibly as individuals and their POV's) and their turmoil regarding their situation and their journey and how they may get out of it. Possibly going to be left as a cliff hanger.
  • Distributed: The film was distributed by Arrow films. The film is an independent film therefore, it is lightweight and affordable to produce. Furthermore, it contains low key actors as we are playing the role of different protangonists/characters within. Also, there is no budget and it will be filmed on location in this case being Barnsley.
  • Suggested Elements: An suggested element is that the film is a horror therefore, it appeals to the audience and creates tension and suspense upon them. Another element within the film could be the clown due to the fact that, it will consist of specific costumes and makeup to make it more realistic and make it fit with the genre of the film. Futhermore, the clown's costume is a tracksuit to cover their identity which reflects he is untidy whereas, the mask is to further emphasises this however, it also shows their sense of power and causes a threat towards other characters and the audience.
